More about the history that inspired the space
Once known for its luxurious hotels, canals, and amusement parks, Venice had sunk into disrepair by the mid-20th century. Many of the once-grand buildings had become run-down and dilapidated. Nobody expected it to evolve into a cultural movement. However, for a group of young, dissatisfied men and women, the affordable charm of Venice offered exactly what they were seeking. Members of the movement expressed their yearning for freedom of expression, individuality, and self-discovery. Many explored various forms of jazz, Eastern religion, spoken poetry, and expressionistic art as a means of personal and creative expression.
